Site plan
The L-shape of the house protects the large outdoor terrace, which features a convivial round table and a romantic brazier. This space is overlooked by the bright French windows of the living area and the large glass windows of the conservatory.
The sleeping area is accessed via the corridor, which also serves as a solar greenhouse. During the winter, this is an important source of heat and a place to store plants and flowers.
The house was designed to optimize the energy already present in nature. In summer, the eaves and shading greenery protect the large windows and outdoor living spaces from strong sunlight. When opened at the same time as the skylights on the roof, the north-facing windows create a cool updraft that helps maintain a comfortable temperature inside the building. The massive chimney block acts as a flywheel, retaining thermal energy inside and releasing it slowly.
